Both are based on the entry-level 718, but both pack goodies.

Who doesn’t love getting the basics right? Porsche, perhaps interested in reminding people that they’re actually building entry-level versions of their cars, will launch two Style Editions for the 2024 model year, based on the lowest-tier sports cars, the 718 Boxster and Cayman. Of course, low is relative — these light-weight rear-wheel-drive mid-engined 718s come with a 300-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and come standard with a six-speed manual transmission (yes, even in Style Edition form).

Do you wish you were stylish and had four of the 350hp 2.5-liter 718 S models? Or the brilliant six-cylinder boxer engine of the 718 GTS? Buy one and customize it with Porsche’s extremely extensive list of upgrades and personalization options. The Style Editions are only available in the entry-level 2.0-liter version.

The Style Editions feature gloss black 20-inch wheels, Porsche and model emblems, and tailpipe trim; the Boxster model’s convertible roof also inherits the embossed ‘Boxster’ lettering on top, visible when the roof is lowered. Porsche will also offer a special-edition 718 with a white or black contrasting stripe package (check out the Ruby Boxster above for the white option), which also includes wheels in the appropriate color (so go for the white ones and you’ll end up with lovely white rims). get).

Everything else in the Style Edition is also an upgrade over the regular 718, with a host of other options as standard, including black leather upholstery with chalk contrast stitching, a heated steering wheel, illuminated stainless steel door pedals and a Porsche crest embossed on the on the seat headrest.

These things are included in addition to the regular 718’s already standard adaptive bi-xenon headlights, sports exhaust, auto-dimming mirrors, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and front and rear parking sensors. Look? Porsche doesn’t really make “simple” cars, but Style Editions — like the more performance-focused but also relatively affordable base-engined 718 Boxster and Cayman T models — show it can infuse goodness into the entire lineup, not just the headlines Like a Cayman GT4 RS or a 911 GT3. The Style Edition 718s will go on sale in Europe next year before hitting the US as a 2024 model. So if you prefer this particular style, be prepared to wait a while.
